A movement for Munich’s independent music scene
We believe every artist deserves a stage, an audience, and a community that has their back.
Built by musicians, for musicians
Indie Munich started with a simple observation: Munich is full of talented independent musicians, but finding a stage, an audience, and other artists to grow with isn’t always easy. So we decided to build the missing infrastructure ourselves.
What began with open mics has grown into a community with song slams, workshops, networking events, a musician database, and our own Indie Munich HQ with a bookable rehearsal room. Every event is a chance to perform, meet collaborators, and take the next step in your musical journey.
The community is led by co-founders Ryan Inglis and Carolin Kumari, supported by volunteers who help with hosting, sound, photography, and everything in between.
Our mission
Stages for everyone
Regular open mics and song slams where new and experienced artists can perform.
Learning together
Workshops and skill-sharing so artists grow — on stage and behind the scenes.
Real connections
Networking events and a musician database that turn strangers into bandmates.
A safe community
Clear community guidelines that keep Indie Munich respectful and welcoming.
A home base for the community
Our HQ at Riesenfeldstraße 16 in Munich is where a lot of the magic happens — including our dedicated rehearsal room that musicians can book for practice and creative sessions.
Who makes it happen
Indie Munich is co-founded and led by Ryan Inglis and Carolin Kumari. Around them, a growing circle of volunteers keeps events running — hosting, sound engineering, photography, videography, and more. Want to help out? We’d love to hear from you.
